KINGSWOOD MEETING HOUSE, WYTHALL, WORCESTERSHIRE

MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS

Presented by the Kingswood Chapel Trust.
In association with the Birmingham & Midland Society for Genealogy & Heraldry

The Federation of Family History Societies has a long term plan to record the monumental inscriptions in all the churches and churchyards throughout the country. The Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry as a member of the Federation, is assisting by encouraging their members and other groups within the area to record the memorials in the Midland Counties of Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

A survey in 1965 was a project of the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry and was recorded by David Pearsall.

This revised survey was recorded and processed by Mark Aldridge, Sexton, Kingswood Meeting House, during the period 2006 to 2008 at the request of the Kingswood Chapel Trust. The revised document has been passed to the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and Heraldry for distribution. The current information is based on the 2008 survey which has been updated with memorials placed since 2008.

NOTE

1.     Numbering

The sections (see Graveyard plan), item numbering and page numbers of the 1995 survey have been retained. Against each monument a reference number in parenthesis () has been recorded. This is the grave number on graveyard plans as held by the Kingswood Meeting House.

2.     Inscriptions

It must be appreciated that the accuracy of this transcription cannot be guaranteed in view of the problems which arise in dealing with old gravestones and various possible interpretations of the inscriptions thereon. Those who find a stone that might be relevant to their research should endeavour to examine it for themselves.
